Europe Rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition

by Hannah Bertoluzza

From January 31th until February 2nd 2024, the University of Vienna has proven its skills at the Europe Rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. Hosted by the Université Paris Cité and organized by the University of Oxford, our Mooting Team has achieved the 2nd place and can now call itself European runner-up.

The competition is pertaining to both international law and the right to freedom of expression and its limits. This year’s case was construed around a social media influencer and imbedded question regarding Artificial Intelligence and armed conflicts. Thus, the topic could not have been dealing with more relevant and topical issues of today’s world.

After five months of weekly meetings, preparing two memorials and proving our legal, linguistic and rhetorical skills in Paris, the University of Vienna, represented by Viktoria Fichtenbauer, Marah Kobler, Dalma Trebulová, Hannah Bertoluzza, Moritz Happerger and Fabian Jelicic, coached by Filip Paspalj and supported by Adriana Winkelmeier, has qualified for the International Rounds in Oxford, England, between 15 April and 19 April 2024.
